Caliban System

The Caliban system is a planetary system in [Vanduul territory](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RPDAMLKP74-vanduul-territory), formerly of the [United Empire of Earth](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth)(UEE). Officially purchased from hauler Ashley Ghan in SEY 2341, a [Human](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0Nwpnr6wa2-humans)-made shelter was found on [Caliban 4f](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VlMyvv7Yn7-caliban-4f) during the surveying process, indicating that someone had discovered the system before Ghan and had chosen to keep it a secret. The system was rapidly developed, and enjoyed steady growth until 2739, when [Vanduul](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VpGPp92gdO-vanduul) raiding parties first appeared in the system. Years of struggle against the invading forces [culminated in 2884](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0Gz5DNryvE-fall-of-caliban), when an enormous Vanduul [Clan](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/R9vzjxmEBx-vanduul-clans) invaded the system without warning. After two days of fighting and an evacuation effort led by the [89th Logistic Support Squadron](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0Gz5BNmPqo-squadron-89), the UEE was forced to cede the system to the Vanduul.
