Caliban 3a is the first moon from the surface of [Caliban III](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VgEljZZ8PN-caliban-iii), Caliban system, located in [Vanduul territory](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RPDAMLKP74-vanduul-territory). Large and lumpy in appearance, astronomers speculate that it is the leftover nucleus of a planet that failed to coalesce into a planet. The [Vanduul](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VpGPp92gdO-vanduul) have been observed extracting water ice from its deepest craters.
