Ng.at'ak (also known as Gatac) is one of the major [Houses](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/box9JmxvWL-xian-house) in the [Xi'an Empire (SaoXy'an)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0n96JkwNo9-xian-empire). During the [Great Divide (20044 - 19770 BCE)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvYA5qmqX-the-great-divide), Ng.at'ak, a vassal of [House Ru'a](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/V3qgaLK82W-house-rua), built and maintained vehicles and spacecraft that formed the backbone of Ru'a's logistics operations. Three of Ng.at'ak's elders perished alongside the leadership of Ru'a when [House Kl.ō](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/V8gJ62qO81-house-kloo) unintentionally poisoned the atmosphere of the Xi'an homeworld RyiXy'an (Hyoton III). When Ru'a was made the first [Imperial](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VYLyPxQnpp-emperor-taunuasao-taoyusao) House in the aftermath of the tragedy, newly elevated Emperor Ya.l'ē se Ru'a rewarded Ng.at'ak for their service by granting them exclusive rights to build industrial spacecraft for the SaoXy'an in perpetuity.
