Orion Belt Alpha

The Orion belt alpha is the only asteroid belt in the Orion system. It orbits the system's sun between [Armitage (Orion III)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RL6KLK4ylo-armitage-orion-iii) and the gas giant [Orion IV](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0KxK3vQk3Y-orion-iv). In 2699, [Humans](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0Nwpnr6wa2-humans) discovered deposits of gold and platinum there and set up small mines. However, these were abandoned when Humans fled the system after the [Battle of Orion](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RMXyYxqw8K-battle-of-orion) in 2712. [Vanduul](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VpGPp92gdO-vanduul) have been observed harvesting resources from some of the belt's asteroids.
