Persei (Rhetor II)

Persei is the second planet from the sun of the [Rhetor system](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0ODlqMJXmP-rhetor-system), [United Empire of Earth (UEE)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth). Soon after the system was discovered in 2287, surveyors identified vast deposits of rare elements in the crust. The [United Nations of Earth (UNE)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/R4ZQpY83oO-united-nations-of-earth) government used profits from selling the mining rights on Persei to fund the [terraformation](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/V3qgj8vjnj-terraforming) of [Reisee (Rhetor III)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0QljXw43Ev-reisse-rhetor-iii) and [Mentor (Rhetor IV)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RPDlZJeDLX-mentor-rhetor-iv). Land not used for mining was set aside for the state-run [University of Persei](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/Rz2XZkMrmN-university-of-persei). Today, Persei is home to many research public and private research institutions, most notably the University of Persei Analytical Research and Quantification ([UPARQ](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0n1Mz2WmD7-uparq)) center.
