Caliban III

Caliban III is the third planet from the sun of the [Caliban system](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0jGyPQ1r5m-caliban-system) in [Vanduul territory](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RPDAMLKP74-vanduul-territory). When it was first discovered in SEY 2341, it was deemed a non-viable [terraforming](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/V3qgj8vjnj-terraforming) candidate and left alone in favor of settling [Crion (Caliban II)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/bEzvPwYZ96-crion-caliban-ii). However, by the mid-29th century, there were enough advances in technology that development was approved and terraforming started. All activity came to a halt in 2884, when the Vanduul [invaded](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0Gz5DNryvE-fall-of-caliban) the Caliban system and wrested it from the possession of the [United Empire of Earth](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth)(UEE). Derelict machinery damaged in the fighting and abandoned in orbit routinely plummets to its surface.
