Medical Emergency Locator (MEL)

A medical emergency locator (MEL) is a tracking device manufactured by [CureLife](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0KxkeN9Oe3-curelife) that can be used to trace a person's location in the event of injury, illness, or other dire circumstances. It was included as a part of the uniform of all service members in the [United Empire of Earth](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth) (UEE) military until it was replaced by an improved locator manufactured by [BiotiCorp Limited](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RWoe2K4X8a-bioticorp-limited). Now fully phased out of military uniforms, the MEL is still used by the [Advocacy](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VDoP5pmODk-advocacy) and the [UEE Diplomatic Corps](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0dXZGgNm1Z-uee-diplomatic-corps).
