Neptune (Sol VIII)

Neptune (Sol VIII) is the eighth planet from the sun of the [Sol system](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/Rz2zy6DGB5-sol-system), [United Empire of Earth](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth) (UEE). The densest of the Sol system's gas and ice giant planets, its atmosphere contains high proportions of ice and traces of hydrocarbons. Roughly every two-and-a-half centuries SEY, Neptune and [Pluto (Sol IX)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/0qa1Zo37jk-pluto-sol-ix) swap orbital positions for about 20 years.
