Mars (Sol IV)

Mars (Sol IV) is the fourth planet from the sun of the [Sol system](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/Rz2zy6DGB5-sol-system), [United Empire of Earth](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/VyvyKxy4v6-united-empire-of-earth) (UEE). Populous and prosperous, it was the first planet Humans successfully terraformed after a disastrous initial attempt and provided a much needed outlet for their population during a time of crisis on [Earth (Sol III)](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/Rw1KpMJLZB-earth-sol-iii). Its environment was carefully crafted to allow for as much arable land as possible so it could both sustain a self-sufficient colony and grow extra resources to alleviate famines on Earth.
