An Essosouli is someone who has achieved the highest social and political rank within their [Souli](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/galactapedia/article/RAdjm4mron-souli). Essosouli are often the most skilled artisans in their Souli, or the ones who have accumulated the most wealth over time. The position of Essosouli can be attained through a variety of means, not limited to popular election, appointment by another Essosouli, assassination of another Essosouli, or bribery of an Essosouli. Upon Divestment, Essosouli retire and their Souli either re-organizes or disbands.
